A Message from Our President, Shepard Humphries

The JHSSF is dedicated to promoting education, safety, ethical practices, and participation in shooting sports. Today, I want to share how your generous contributions have been utilized over the last couple of years to make a real impact in our community. This update is about Jackson Hole Shooting Sports Foundation 2024 Accomplishments

Supporting Adaptive Shooting Programs

We teamed up with St. Johns, Teton Adaptive Sports, and Jackson Hole Shooting Experience (JHSE) to help disabled shooters access the range. Your donations funded a Pelican case to store impressive adaptive shooting equipment purchased by the hospital. These devices enable paraplegics and quadriplegics to shoot rifles and pistols. JHSSF partnered with the Jackson Hole Gun Club (JHGC) and JHSE to host two shooting sessions this summer for disabled shooters. One elderly gentleman, who thought he’d never shoot again after a stroke and moving to St. Johns Living Center, hit a 500-yard target with a .223 rifle! Three JHSE coaches are now trained to assist any disabled shooter with this equipment.

Additional Community Contributions

• Purchased targets for the rifle bay, maintained by a dedicated volunteer.
• Provided an ATV cover for the JHGC’s ATV.
• Acquired three rifle scopes for JHSSF .22LR rifles.
• Donated funds for clay pigeons for the 4H shotgun program.
• Reimbursed NRA R.S.O. training fees for two competitive pistol shooters who also run local matches.
• Installed new, long-lasting shotgun machine numbers with welded brackets.
• Partnered with JHSE to offer various community classes, including:
  • Youth Long Range 22LR Workshop & Competition
  • Ladies Basic Pistol Class
  • Intro-to-Shotgun Class
  • Pre-Hunt (Rifle) Skill-development and Ethics Class
  • Long Range Rifle Class
• Purchased a tablet for JHGC board member Mark Roundtree, replacing his worn-out personal tablet. Mark contributes hundreds of volunteer hours annually managing scheduling, competitions, and reporting.
• Provided first aid supplies and co-hosted a Trauma First Aid class for frequent range users to increase preparedness for potential emergencies.
• Allocated funds for inert training guns to be used in local Hunter’s Ed classes. These non-functional training tools can be brought into schools for educational purposes.
